The Undertaker talks retirement, two dream opponents and WWE’s future with UFC
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Speaking to The Independent, Mark Calaway opens up about life after WWE, and the stars he would have ‘loved’ to face || Super Admin
The Undertaker, one of the most recognizable names in WWE, retired in 2020 after a remarkable 30-year career. In an interview, he shared how he is dealing with life away from WWE. While he feels fine when he's at home, he still gets the urge to prepare for a WWE event when he attends one. The Undertaker expressed that the desire to be in the ring is still present in his heart and mind.
Unfortunately, The Undertaker's retirement coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic, which meant there was no grand send-off with a live audience at WrestleMania. Instead, he had a unique "Boneyard Match" against AJ Styles and rode off into the distance on his motorcycle. Since then, fans have speculated about a possible return for one final WrestleMania appearance. Although The Undertaker acknowledged that the industry has evolved, he mentioned two current WWE stars he would have liked to face: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. He praised Reigns for his phenomenal character development and impressive championship reign, placing him in the conversation as one of the greatest of all time.
The Undertaker also discussed the recent merger between WWE and Endeavour, the parent company of UFC. He believes that the merger will make both companies stronger but doesn't foresee significant crossover between the two. While WWE and UFC have had some crossover in the past, with stars like Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey transitioning between the two sports, The Undertaker humorously suggested that Conor McGregor would be a perfect fit for WWE due to his charisma and ability to play the ultimate heel.
Overall, The Undertaker reflected on his career, his retirement, and the evolving landscape of professional wrestling and combat sports.
